Getting Started with Onshape
Lesson Overview
Before you can start modeling, you need an Onshape account. Because Onshape is 100% cloud-based, there is no software to download or install. This lesson covers the two primary ways hobbyists and students can access the platform for free.
The Two Free Account Types

Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Choose Your Path
For Hobbyists: Visit the Onshape Free Plan page.
For Students: Visit the Onshape Education page.
2. Fill Out the Sign-Up Form
You will need to provide your name, email, and a brief description of what you intend to use Onshape for (e.g., "Hobbyist projects" or "Learning CAD").
3. Confirm Your Email
Check your inbox for an activation email from Onshape. Click the "Activate Your Account" button. This is a critical security step!
4. Sign in to your Onshape Account
In your browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, etc.) go to https://cad.onshape.com
Enter your User Name (email address used for signup) and Password
Access your Onshape Account

Can I use a free account to design products I intend to sell?
No, this type of account is for non-commercial use only.
f I have a Public account, who can see my work?
Everyone with an Onshape Account can view PUBLIC files.
